Meet the faces behind the name.

Mission Statement

Pedal to Provide, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit founded to help fight food insecurity in the Metropolitan Detroit area. Through a community-focused fundraising event that encourage healthy lifestyles, we help existing charitable organizations deepen their impact in fighting food insecurity and further serving their community.

Ed Gaines, Executive Director

Ed Gaines first combined his passion for cycling with giving back more than a decade ago, riding his bike across the state of Michigan to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Since then, he has organized many community fundraising events to help fight hunger in the Detroit area, raising more than $30,000 over his tenure. Striving to continue making a more meaningful impact year-after-year and eager to share his gift of bringing people together, Ed founded Pedal to Provide in 2022, deepening his commitment to helping end hunger in his community.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Policy

Pedal to Provide, Inc. is fully dedicated to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment, where every individual involved in our work is treated with utmost dignity and respect. In this statement, diversity encompasses various aspects such as race, gender, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual identity, familial status, age, disability, and socio-economic status. Inclusion entails valuing, respecting, and actively encouraging the complete participation of each person in the organization’s life and leadership. Equity is a continuous process that ensures equal opportunities for all individuals to contribute, participate, develop, and thrive, despite historical, structural, legislative, racial, and socio-economic disparities.

We take great pride in celebrating the vibrant diversity of the Metropolitan Detroit region and the world as an organization. We vehemently denounce any form of discrimination, biases, harassment, or bullying. Irrespective of race, socio-economic status, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, gender, or marital status, we honor and embrace the richness of diversity within our community.

As an organization and Board of Directors, we wholeheartedly embrace these principles and commit to upholding them in our vision, mission, strategic planning, programming, governance, and board composition. Our dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion extends to our staff, members, the programs we develop and support, and the people we serve.
